Recently, Ementor introduced the market for the complete Green IT product lifecycle through the “goITgreen” concept and further the new leading recycle concept “goITloop” for all companies in the Nordic and Baltic region. Claus Hougesen, CEO and President of Ementor ASA, says: “We believe that as a responsible IT and service provider we need to set high standards for our own environmental business conduct.”
One of Ementor’s principal strategic goals is to go climate neutral in 2010. In order to reach this ambitious target they now implement a series of inter¬nal measures throughout the whole Group. There are high potentials, both for greenhouse gas reductions as well as economic gain. The potentials and focus areas for each Group company are outlined in a strong action plan for 2009.
Based on the Ementor Group’s Carbon Footprint Analysis for 2007 all the Group com¬panies are introduced to action plan measures within each focus area, such as primary cars/driving, air travel, electricity/heating and waste handling. Further they are introduced to an outline of potential emission reductions as well as economic savings. To ensure strong focus external reviews from the companies CO2Focus AS (Climate Reports) and Bureau Veritas (ISO14001) are used.
The objective is to reduce the Ementor Group’s CO2 emis¬sions in addition to saving costs. These actions are part of the Group’s efforts to go carbon neutral in 2010 and to show the environmental awareness and commitment both externally and internally. Reducing the carbon footprint pays off and the Group expects to lower their CO2 emissions with 13% in 2009 and by that receive cost reductions for a potential amount of 39.1 MNOK.
“The biggest challenge for all of us is to reconsider and evaluate how we live and how we work. Often small changes can make a great difference without affect¬ing the course of business. Our goal is to develop a healthy environ¬ment both for ourselves and our custom¬ers while giving the same level of service. We will make a difference within environmental internal focus in the future,” says Claus Hougesen.
