Atea will in line with the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System continuously implement necessary actions to lower the Group’s total CO2 emission. The Atea Carbon Action Plan contains an expected total saving amount for Atea of MNOK 39.1 in 2009, and reduction of CO2 emissions with 1,075 tonnes CO2 or 13% of Atea’s total emissions.

Atea’s goitgreen concept is focused on optimizing Green IT by handling the total IT product life cycle from IT policies, products, consultancies, logistics, solutions and recycling. goitgreen improves our customers’ environmental performance through lower CO2 emissions and more efficient energy use,” says Claus Hougesen, CEO in Atea ASA.
Atea has sold environmental friendly pc’s, server solutions and video conference systems to customers during the first 7 months which have reduced the customers’ CO2 emission by 136,193 tonnes CO2 which equals the yearly CO2 impact of 22,549 consumers, or 10,724 Nordic households. The customers have achieved these CO2 emission reductions by using Atea’s successful and easy implementable goitgreen concept.
“We have seen a booming increase in our customers’ demands for recycling of used IT equipments. After the introduction of Atea’s successful green recycling concept goitloop in 2008, we have seen an increase of 65% in our recycling business in first half of 2009 compared with first half of 2008,” says Hougesen.
