Ementor Group recognized by UN as a leading company for CO2 reduction

(2008.12.19)  Press Release

The Ementor Group has been recognized as being among the leading companies in the world with the most ambitious targets for reduction of CO2. The honor comes from United Nations’ Climate Neutral Network (UN CN Net).

Joining the UN CN Net underlines the Ementor Group’s concern and commitment to fulfill the ambitious plan to lower the group’s CO2 emission with 13% in 2009 and by that receive cost reduction for a potential amount of 39.1 MNOK. These actions are part of the Group’s efforts to go carbon neutral in 2010 and to show the environmental awareness and commitment both externally and internally.

The UN CN Net publishes plans and strategies from pioneering partners such as the Ementor Group to inspire others and encourage and assists the partners in achieving their goals for reducing green house gas emissions.

CEO and President Claus Hougesen in Ementor ASA has personally been one of the driving forces behind the strategy: “As a supplier of IT equipment Ementor Group is concerned about the ongoing climate changes and that IT impacts the environment through its production, product life cycle and disposal. Towards our customers we wish to contribute to the awareness of reducing CO2 emission by our specific concepts for use of Green IT and recycling. Internally our goal is to become CO2 neutral in 2010 by action plans carried out in all Ementor Group’s companies”.

In order to reach the ambitious target to go carbon neutral in 2010 all companies in the Ementor Group implement a series of inter¬nal measures. The potentials and focus areas for each Group company are outlined in a strong action plan for 2009. The activities are mainly focused on cars/driving, air travel, electricity/heating and waste handling.

Externally the Group has launched two unique concepts called goITgreen and goITloop. Both concepts contain advice and support for clients how to reduce CO2 emission and save money at the same time. This is possible during the entire life cycle of the company’s IT-equipment beginning with purchase, correct use and optimization and ending with recycling or reuse when the equipment no longer suffice.
