In the Nordic countries we have a well-functioning law in several of these areas, but Atea has chosen in each country to go even further for example regarding sustainability issues, equality and ethics. All this areas are handled and executed directly in the groups countries. Please see each country site for further information.
By supporting UN Global Compact Atea also supports ILO’s 8 Core Conventions which partly are the basis for the principles of Global Compact.
Atea’s absolute focus area within the Global Compact are the principles 7 to 9, which concerns our environment.
Atea will focus on environmental responsibility and take an active role to promote and support implementation of environmental and Green IT concepts in our own and our customers’ organizations. We believe that taking a corporate responsibility and increasing environmental awareness are highly important for the global climate, our own company, as well as our customers and the supply chain between. Our environmental focus is based on our External Environmental Market Concepts and our Internal Environmental Management System.
Environmental Management
The internal responsibility for environmental focus is rooted in the Corporate Management to ensure constant focus on Environmental Management in all Atea companies. All countries participate in the Atea Green Community with local responsible green environmental officers, which ensure local green activities and green developments. All our companies have Public Climate Reports, we have developed targets and goals for reducing our own environmental impact in our Carbon Action Plan and further we are certified according to the ISO 14001 environmental management systems standard. We are strongly concerned about the ongoing climate changes and we are aware that IT impacts the environment through its production, product life cycle and disposal. To ensure constant focus external audits and status on internal CO2 emission in Atea are conducted, and with the Climate Reports we identify and implement necessary actions to lower the Group’s total CO2 emission. Our goal is that Atea will be CO2 neutral based on the Climate Report result for 2010.
As the leading Nordic and Baltic supplier of IT infrastructure products and services, our responsibility and intent is that Green IT shall be a high priority for all customers in all Atea’s countries of operation. As a supplier we should support our customers in understanding and increasing their focus on Green IT, while maintaining a satisfactory and high return on investment (ROI) on their IT investments. With our common goitgreen concept we introduce environmentally optimized Green IT to all our customers, by focusing on the total IT product life cycle from IT Policies, Products, Consultancies, Logistics, Solutions and Recycle. By using goitgreen we improve our customers’ environmental performance through lower CO2 emissions and more efficient energy use. See more at www.goitgreen.com.
We strongly believe that we can help the environment by recycle old IT equipment correctly. Where the environment is concerned, we need to change our behaviours. By far the best way to minimize the environmental impact of computers is by extending their lifespan - either through complete or partial reuse, or by ensure further use. By entering the “green loop” and recycling, our customers can extend the lifetime of any obsolete equipment in their company. Around 50% of all IT equipment received can be reused or resold. With the goitloop concept we recycle 99.7% of all equipment and dispose of the remaining 0.3% in an environmentally responsible manner. We erase data to meets the highest standard and is approved by the Swedish Armed Forces – see certification. See more at
